Jeff Smith
Chief Operating Officer
Jeff Smith joined Easterseals Arkansas in October 2025, bringing more than two decades of cross-industry leadership experience to the organization. He spent over 20 years as a business consultant, working alongside executives in aerospace, technology, mining, and entertainment, industries with little in common beyond the complexity of the problems they generate and the pressure to solve them quickly. That work gave him a close view of how organizations make decisions, where they get stuck, and what it takes to move from a good idea to a working plan.
Jeff is known for outside-the-box thinking and problem solving, and for the teamwork that carries a plan through to a finished solution. He is a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Leadership Academy and attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington on a swimming scholarship, where he studied Marine Biology. A line he came across in college, from 19th-century educator Horace Mann, has guided him ever since: "Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity."
Jeff grew up in Fort Smith, though his parents joked that he was raised by the world, a nod to the travel that came with his years on the USA National Junior swimming team. He was recognized by the Arkansas Swimming Hall of Fame with the Heil Mile Award his senior year of high school, and he still volunteers as an announcer at swim meets. He and his wife, Brooke, have five children: Xander, Connor, Zoey, Sara, and Lauren, whose theater, choir, dance, cheer, and swimming schedules account for most of his time away from the office.
