Karen Craig

Senior Director of Project Management and Compliance

Karen Craig is the Senior Director of Project Management and Compliance at Easterseals Arkansas. As Compliance Officer, she makes sure the organization meets all regulatory and licensing requirements, working closely with legal counsel to follow federal, state, and local laws. She participates in audits, provides training on compliance, privacy, and HIPAA, helps with investigations, and oversees the review and revision of policies and procedures.

In project management, she supports departmental and organization-wide initiatives, from scheduling flu shot clinics and leading the Health & Safety Committee to keeping the organization ready for accreditation surveys and helping groups stay on track with major initiatives. Either way, she sees her role as supporting programs and departments so they can focus on providing the best support possible to the individuals Easterseals serves, its staff, and its volunteers.

Karen holds a B.S. in zoology from the University of Arkansas and a master's in health administration from Washington University in St. Louis, and completed a year-long fellowship at Arkansas Children's Hospital. She has worked in healthcare for more than 25 years, in compliance, strategic planning, nursing administration, hospital administration, department leadership, and intellectual and developmental disabilities, and she loves using data to tell stories and make decisions.

Karen is an identical mirror twin: her sister is right-handed and she is left-handed. She is an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan, all sports, no matter the season. Her grandfather, Jim Mackenzie, was defensive coordinator for the Razorbacks' 1964 national championship team.

Her own motto: "Stay compliant, pursue quality, and enjoy the work, because excellence is strongest when responsibility and enthusiasm work together."
