Housing Options in Arkansas

A family-friendly guide to exploring residential choices. Choosing a home is about finding the right balance of independence, support, affordability, and personal choice.

Find Your Starting Point

Four Ways to Live

These options are arranged from the most independent to the most supported. Many families explore more than one.

  • One and two bedroom floor plans, accessible bathrooms, private entrances, and an on-site manager.
  • Two bedroom units are available for live-in aides.

Tip: Start with the person’s vision for home, then explore eligibility, funding, availability, and support needs.

Find Your Starting Point

Five questions, about two minutes. There are no wrong answers, and nothing you enter is sent to us or saved anywhere.

Question 1 of 5 How much day-to-day support does the person need?

Think about daily living, safety, transportation, meals, and medications.

Question 2 of 5 What kind of home does the person want?

This is about preference, not eligibility. What they want matters.

Question 3 of 5 What funding or eligibility is already in place?

CES stands for Community and Employment Supports, a Medicaid waiver administered through Arkansas DHS.

Question 4 of 5 Where does the person want to live?

Consider community, transportation, work, family, and social connections.

Question 5 of 5 Could smart-home and remote-support technology increase independence or safety?

Things like smart locks, sensors, and remote monitoring can reduce how much in-person staffing a person needs.

You answered that you are not sure about funding or eligibility. That is the most common place families get stuck, and it is worth sorting out first, because it changes which options are open to you. Our waiver specialists will call you back for free.

You are looking outside the Little Rock area. All four Easterseals HUD apartment complexes are in Little Rock, so Community Living may not be an option where you are looking. Call us at 501-227-3600 and we can talk through what exists in your part of the state.

This is a starting point for a conversation, not an eligibility determination. Every family’s situation is different, and the options above are worth exploring together.
