LITTLE ROCK (Nov. 2, 2015) – Officials at Easterseals Arkansas will announce Governor Asa Hutchinson as its 2016 Arkansan of the Year at a news conference Wednesday, November 4, 9:45 a.m., in the Sturgis Room at the Easterseals Outpatient Services building, 3920 Woodland Heights Road in Little Rock. Hutchinson is the 46th governor of Arkansas and is being recognized on the national stage for his leadership in education, energy and security. The Governor is chairman of the Southern Regional Education Board, chairman of the Southern States Energy Board and vice chairman of the National Governors Association Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee. Before being elected governor, Hutchinson served as Director of the Drug Enforcement Administration and as the first Undersecretary of the Department of Homeland Security. He also served three terms in Congress, representing Arkansas’ Third District. He and his wife Susan have been married 42 years. They have four children and five grandchildren. Easterseals will honor Hutchinson at a banquet to be held Thursday, March 31, at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock. Arkansan of the Year chairman Sheffield Nelson and Easterseals Arkansas President and CEO Elaine Eubank will make the announcement at the news conference. Event chairman Nelson is a past Arkansan of the Year honoree.
