Education and Outreach Services
Every student possesses a unique potential waiting to be unlocked. Yet, the journey of learning isn’t always the same for every child.
Understanding the diverse needs of students, especially those with special requirements, Easterseals steps forward with its transformative Education and Outreach Services. Our aim is not just to bridge the gap in traditional education but to create a spectrum of support that ensures every child flourishes.
Elevating the Educational Experience
At the core of our mission is the Easterseals Outreach Program (ESO). Proudly partnering with the Arkansas Department of Education-Special Education Unit (ADE-SEU), we pledge to elevate the educational experiences of students with special needs. Our main goal is to guide them toward success in school and beyond into their adult lives.
We recognize the varied challenges students may face, from behavioral and concentration difficulties to developmental disabilities and peer interactions. This is why our approach is personalized and holistic.
Once a referral is received through CIRCUIT, our dedicated ESO professionals travel statewide. Their mission is to collaborate closely with educators, parents, therapists, and administrators to create and successfully execute tailored programs that address individual needs.
Meet the ESO Team
With a synergy of passion and expertise, our team consists of seasoned special education consultants, occupational and speech therapists, technology consultants, a psychological examiner, specialists in autism, and a consultant focused on traumatic brain injuries.
Special Education Family Liaison
Easterseals Arkansas offers a Special Education Family Liaison to help families navigate this landscape. Crystal Kellybrew is available to work with school or community teams by providing no-cost group training, individualized family support, and access to resources.
Crystal is a native of Dardanelle, Arkansas. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Education from the University of Central Arkansas in 2012. She received her Master’s degree in social work from Louisiana State University.
Crystal gained her experience from working with youth through adolescents in multiple settings, including a pediatric clinic and home services. In addition to her role with Easterseals, she is a social worker at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
She has a passion for minority mental health and maternal mental health and is always looking for opportunities to speak about both. Crystal enjoys spending time with her son and catching up on sports in her spare time. Crystal’s biggest hope is for families to feel empowered about their children’s future.
This school year, Crystal will be working in about 10 schools or communities in the Central and Delta regions of the state.
Here’s How We Can Assist
Upon a service request, a member of the ESO will promptly get in touch. We’ll determine how best to support the student and their educational team, potentially utilizing:
- Consultations with the school team
- Comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations, inclusive of autism testing
- Improved professional development courses
- Detailed AAC evaluations
- Assistive technology assessments for students under IEP
- Regional training, in-depth on-site team coaching, and in-service training
Adaptations or modifications, be it materials or the very classroom environment, to ensure optimal learning conditions
Choosing Easterseals is choosing a brighter future for every student. Let us join hands in molding a world where every child’s educational journey is enriched, empowering them to reach for the stars.
Together, we can redefine education and create success stories every day.
