At Easterseals Arkansas, our mission is only as strong as the people behind it—and we’re proud to be powered by passionate, mission-driven professionals who show up every day ready to make a difference. This month, we’re honored to spotlight Bert Reynolds, Major Gift Officer on our Development Team, whose personal connection to Easterseals brings a depth of compassion and purpose to his work.
From Grateful Parent to Dedicated Team Member
Bert’s story with Easterseals Arkansas goes beyond his employment. He’s also a parent. His son receives services through our programs, and as someone who has seen firsthand the life-changing impact of our work, Bert’s heart is in the mission in a more personal way.
“As the parent of a child who receives services from Easterseals, I love and live the Easterseals mission,” Bert says. “When a position on the Development Team became open, I jumped at the opportunity to interview.”
That opportunity led Bert to his current role as Major Gift Officer, where he works closely with donors to build lasting partnerships that support our vision. For Bert, this work is personal. Every connection he builds is rooted in gratitude, empathy, and a shared desire to help others thrive.
The Power of Connection
Bert brings a unique combination of heart and experience to his work. With both a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Abilene Christian University, his background is deeply rooted in service, leadership, and human connection. And that’s exactly what he brings to Easterseals every day.
“My job is connection,” he explains. “Bringing together our incredible donors’ hearts for helping and coupling that with meaningful opportunities for impacting the lives of the people we serve.”
As part of the Support Team, Bert plays a crucial role in advancing our development efforts, focusing on major gifts that help fund programs like The Academy at Easterseals—a program especially close to his heart as a parent.
He describes himself as someone who listens well, cares deeply, and loves sharing the stories that define Easterseals—stories of perseverance, joy, and transformation.
“The lives of the people Easterseals serves tell inspiring stories. The work of our employees creates stirring stories. The compassion of our donors conveys powerful stories. I love being a storyteller and a connector.”
Beyond the Office: Family, Laughter, and a Nickname You Won’t Forget
When he’s not meeting with donors or writing thank-you notes, Bert is spending quality time with his family. He and his wife have lived in Little Rock for over 20 years, after moving from Texas for a job opportunity—and they’ve come to love the beauty and community of Central Arkansas.
Their favorite activities include hiking, walking, traveling, and family game nights. Bert also enjoys watching and playing sports, and unwinding with a good TV series alongside his wife.
He’s also earned a nickname that’s too good not to share. His son, a student at Academy West, lovingly calls him “Moldy Breadloaf”—a playful jab at Bert’s hair that, according to his son, resembles a loaf of bread with a touch of mold (aka gray). It’s a joke that keeps the whole family laughing—and that’s just the way Bert likes it.
“It cracks him up every time. In truth, it cracks me up too.”
A Mission That Matters
At Easterseals Arkansas, we’re committed to empowering children and adults with disabilities to reach their full potential. Through educational, therapeutic, and employment programs, we serve individuals and families across the state with compassion and expertise.
But we couldn’t do any of it without the people behind the scenes—like Bert—who help us fund this important work through donor engagement and community relationships. Bert believes strongly in helping people who want to help others, and he brings this passion into every conversation, every letter, and every gift received.
“Helping others brings purpose and fulfillment in a way that few things can. I’m proud to help people who are making a real impact through Easterseals.”
