A Heart for Advocacy, A Passion for Children
At Easterseals Arkansas, our mission is fueled by passionate individuals who go above and beyond to uplift the lives of those we serve. One of those individuals is Jessica Powers, a dedicated educator, advocate, and role model at the Stacey & Allen Homra Child Development Center in Stuttgart, Arkansas. With over 13 years of experience supporting individuals with disabilities and an unwavering belief in compassion over judgment, Jessica's impact is both wide-reaching and deeply personal.
Meet Jessica: A Life of Service and Support
Jessica Powers brings heart, soul, and seasoned experience into every interaction. Her journey into the field wasn’t driven by circumstance—it was a calling.
“I started working at Easterseals to help those who may not always have the love and support they need. Everyone deserves to be loved and cared for no matter their situation.”
Her professional path spans more than a decade and includes roles as a one-on-one support staff, Adult Day Instructor, Waiver Coordinator, and Waiver Director. Now, she's back in the classroom—this time working with children, where she continues to inspire growth, acceptance, and confidence in the next generation.
Despite her extensive on-the-job knowledge, Jessica remains humble about her educational journey. With a high school diploma in hand, she’s taking the next step by pursuing an Associate Degree in Child Development, a testament to her commitment to lifelong learning and continuous improvement.
Known around the center for her exceptional organizational skills and magnetic personality, Jessica can strike up a meaningful conversation with anyone, making her a natural fit in both the classroom and community.
“I am most passionate about getting rid of the stigma the word ‘disability’ carries. Our clients can do anything they set their minds to.”
Her colleagues and the families she serves would tell you the same: Jessica is an unwavering advocate for seeing every individual as capable, valuable, and full of potential.
Inside the Stacey & Allen Homra Child Development Center
Located in Stuttgart, Arkansas, the Stacey & Allen Homra Child Development Center is one of Easterseals Arkansas’ cornerstone programs for children. The center provides inclusive, developmentally appropriate education and care for children of all abilities in a nurturing environment.
Jessica’s role in this setting is multifaceted. She's not just a classroom leader—she’s a mentor, a listener, and a motivator. Every day, she helps children overcome obstacles and celebrate small victories, whether that’s learning a new word, navigating social play, or achieving a developmental milestone.
The atmosphere at SAHCDC reflects the heart of Easterseals: warmth, inclusivity, and an unwavering belief that every child has something important to offer.
“Our clients can do anything they set their minds to. I see that every day in our classroom.”
Jessica thrives in this kind of mission-driven environment. Her energy uplifts those around her, and her personal advocacy transforms lives—both in and out of the classroom.
Faith, Family, and a Life Well Lived
Outside of her professional life, Jessica’s world is firmly grounded in faith and family. A devoted mother, wife, and community leader, she wears many hats with grace and joy. Married to her husband Robert for 23 years, the two lead First Baptist Church in Devalls Bluff, where they pastor together and build connections that strengthen their community.
“I enjoy spending time with my family and being a sports mom! My kids are my world.”
Her children—Cloe (22), Levi (20), and Elijah (16)—are the center of her universe. Whether it’s cheering from the sidelines, organizing team events, or volunteering for school and church activities, Jessica is always at the heart of the action.
She grew up in the small town of Hoxie, Arkansas, and as a pastor’s wife, she’s experienced life across the state. But no matter where she lands, her commitment to faith and fellowship remains steady.
“I would never be able to give up my time worshiping my Savior and Lord.”
Jessica is the kind of person whose joy is contagious. She gives generously of her time, energy, and love—not because she has to, but because it’s who she is at her core.
