"Faith, Family, and the Power of Listening"
At Easterseals Arkansas, we are proud to shine a light on the passionate and talented individuals who make our programs thrive. Today, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Shannon Wray, a compassionate force at the Center for Training & Wellness. With a deep-rooted belief in the power of patience, understanding, and faith, Shannon’s journey is a true testament to the mission of Easterseals.
A Calling to Make a Difference
For Shannon Wray, the path to Easterseals Arkansas was paved with a strong desire to make a meaningful impact. After several months of searching for a role that aligned with her passion for helping others, a timely text from a friend led her to apply for an open position — and she’s been making a difference ever since.
"I had been looking for a job where I felt like I truly made a difference," Shannon shares. "When Shelley texted me about the opening, I applied right away. I have been so blessed to be able to work here."
With a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and a teaching license from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR), Shannon’s journey in education began in 2008 as a 6th-grade Social Studies teacher at Bauxite School District. Her passion for helping students grow led her to pursue a master’s degree in School Counseling, also from UALR, graduating in 2011. She served as a middle school counselor before transitioning to become a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the State of Arkansas — all experiences that perfectly positioned her for her current role at Easterseals.
In addition to her degrees, Shannon holds certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, ensuring that she brings both heart and expertise to her work every day.
Bringing Calm and Care to the Center for Training & Wellness
At the Center for Training & Wellness, Shannon is known for her rare ability to listen deeply, understand others’ experiences, and provide steady, calming support.
"I strive to help others by listening to their problems and giving unbiased advice," Shannon explains. "My goal is to help them develop the coping skills they need to handle life's journey."
Her clients and coworkers describe her as a calm, reassuring presence — someone who can take even the most stressful moments and help people feel safe, heard, and empowered. It’s this nurturing spirit that makes her an invaluable part of the Easterseals community.
Shannon’s approach is simple but powerful: lead with patience, listen with your heart, and encourage others to see the beauty in their own resilience. Her ability to connect authentically and inspire hope is making a profound difference in the lives of the individuals she serves every day.
A Life Rooted in Family, Faith, and Fun
When Shannon isn’t busy inspiring others at Easterseals, you’ll find her surrounded by family, enjoying the simple joys of life. Whether it’s cookouts, trips to the zoo, lake outings, or family vacations to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, Shannon treasures every moment with her husband, kids, and granddaughters.
"My faith in God inspires me daily," Shannon says. "It helps me enjoy the simple things and encourage others to do the same."
An avid crafter, Shannon also loves working on embroidery, cross-stitch projects, and creating intricate miniature scenes. And when it comes to passions she could never give up? Faith, family, chocolate, and popcorn top her list.
Raised in Benton, Arkansas, Shannon now lives just up the road in Bauxite, where she and her husband have built a home filled with love and memories over the last 28 years. All three of her children graduated with honors from Bauxite High School — a true point of pride.
Shannon’s dreams are as vibrant as her spirit. A seasoned traveler, she hopes to one day return to Italy and France and finally visit Scotland and Ireland — adventures waiting on the horizon.
