At Easterseals Arkansas, the heartbeat of our mission lies in the dedication of our incredible team members. This week, meet Jillian Jacuzzi, our dedicated Director of Marketing & PR. She is one of the many people who go above and beyond each day to help individuals with disabilities lead more independent and fulfilled lives.
From Newsrooms to Nonprofits: A Storyteller's Journey
Jillian Jacuzzi brings 22 years of experience in communications and marketing to her role at Easterseals Arkansas, along with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Central Arkansas and a Master of Arts in Journalism from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Her professional journey began at the Saline Courier (formerly the Benton Courier).
“The managing editor took a chance on me, and I quickly learned the ropes of community journalism,” she shared.
That leap of faith led to years of growth in the newspaper and magazine industry. While she treasured the variety of projects and clients, something was missing. After a year on her own, Jillian realized she missed the energy of collaboration and the structure of working alongside teammates toward a shared mission. Then in 2017, she found a new opportunity:
“I saw an ad that Easterseals was hiring a Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator, and the rest is history!”
The Art of Storytelling with Purpose
Known for her storytelling skills and meticulous attention to detail, Jillian has a gift for taking complex information and organizing it in ways that resonate. In collaboration with her marketing partners at iProv, she organizes data and details into powerful narratives of showcasing the impact of the work Easterseals Arkansas is doing to support its members.
But Jillian's strength goes beyond writing compelling copy; she approaches every story with empathy. Her work ensures that the voices and experiences of individuals with disabilities are honored and celebrated. She reminds the community why this mission matters and inspires continued support for the life-changing services Easterseals provides.
A Life Shaped by Stories and Movement
Outside the office, Jillian enjoys getting lost in a good story, whether through a book, movie, or TV show. For her, these stories are more than just entertainment: they are a way to connect with people and understand them, nurturing the empathy she is so well known for.
You'll also find her staying active through walking and exercise, though her running days have evolved since earning quite a few medals from 5Ks and half-marathons in her 20s and 30s. She laughs when recalling her 9th-grade "Most Improved Player" award from the volleyball team, but sees it as a testament to her tenacity and willingness to put herself out there and learn.
These days, much of her free time is spent playing with her family. Her 3-year-old daughter is full of wonder, and Jillian treasures every moment. You can also often find her working on a photo or home decor project.
Roots Across the Country, Heart in Arkansas
Born in Denton, Texas, Jillian grew up in Austin until fourth grade. They relocated to Flagstaff, Arizona, after her mother got her doctorate, and then, before Jillian's junior year of high school, the family moved to Little Rock to be closer to family.
She’s lived here ever since, building a life and career rooted in community. She's passionate about her involvement at First United Methodist Church in Benton, where she finds connection and purpose beyond her professional work.
Fun fact: Before meeting her now-husband, Jillian spent the better part of her early 30s following her favorite band around the country, collecting travel adventures and memories along the way.
A Legacy of Empathy and Inclusion
When asked what she hopes to be remembered for, Jillian's answer is simple but profound:
"My empathy and desire to make everyone feel included."
Whether she's crafting a story that honors someone's journey, collaborating with colleagues on a new campaign, or welcoming a newcomer into the fold, Jillian leads with compassion and intentionality. She believes everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and valued.
The one thing she admits she could never give up? Her sweet baby girl. After waiting a long time to become a mom, Jillian is grateful for her daughter every single day. That gratitude and love spill over into everything she does, reminding us all what truly matters: connection, empathy, and creating a world where everyone belongs.
Thank You, Jillian!
