Easterseals Arkansas is excited to announce the appointment of the reputed healthcare attorney, David Ivers, to the role of Vice President of General Counsel and External Affairs. Bringing an impressive background in healthcare law, Ivers shares a deep-rooted connection with Easterseals, making his new work home “like family”.
Ivers’ Deep Connection with Easterseals
The affinity stems from personal experience as the father of Aidan and Alaina, both of whom have been part of the Easterseals family. Aidan continues to avail services from the organization into his young adulthood.
This rich history coupled with over two decades of legal representation for Easterseals attributed to his strong bond with the organization. Ivers expressed his deep connection stating, “I know firsthand how important Easterseals Arkansas is to the families we serve. And, of course, I represented Easterseals while at my former law firm for over 20 years, so it feels like the perfect place to call my work home.”
CEO’s Vision and Ivers’ Commitment
As Easterseals steers into a future laden with challenges and opportunities, CEO Ron Ekstrand is optimistic about the strategic direction, envisioning not just survival but robust growth. Ivers reciprocates this optimism, ready to lend his expertise to navigate the evolving landscape with a firm belief in the leadership of Ekstrand.
Echoing the sentiment, Ekstrand noted, “As we reopen programs and look to expand our services beyond Central Arkansas, David will be an incredible asset to our team. He knows the state, disability law, and leaders at providers across the state.”
Ivers’ Rich Professional Background
Ivers steps into his full-time role backed by a formidable repertoire in policy development and understanding of legislative impacts on both businesses and consumers. He brings to the table extensive experience working with legislative teams, a prolific record as a presenter on healthcare topics, and notable literary contributions including co-authoring a physician’s book and winning the Burton Award for an article on care coordination.
During his tenure at Mitchell, Blackstock, Ivers & Sneddon PLLC, Ivers played a pivotal role in drafting and negotiating significant legislation such as the Arkansas Medicaid Fairness Act and the Peer Review Fairness Act. These laws have fortified the rights of Medicaid providers and physicians, alongside ushering in patient protections under the Health Care Consumer Act.
Ivers holds a law degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s William H. Bowen School of Law, and a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism with a minor in political science from Arkansas State University.
