Summary: Provides assistance to the physical therapist(s) in the treatment of persons served by performing the following duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Examination and clinical observations during services.
Reviews social history, psychological, medical, and previous therapy reports/records.
Is directed by the physical therapist in treatment plan – addressing the specific areas of need
Writes daily note based on treatment goals and clinical observations as related to individual’s treatment plan.
Communicates information to team participants and provides input for treatment plan development where appropriate.
Discuss referrals/recommendations for therapy and/or equipment with the physical therapist.
Therapy
Follows treatment plan developed by the physical therapist.
Conducts individual and/or group sessions within treatment site to work on specific objectives.
When directed by physical therapist provides family and/or staff training as needed and appropriate.
When directed by physical therapist will monitor, provide training on, or implement use of equipment
Creates and follows daily schedule.
Treats a minimum of 75% of scheduled work hours per week. (for example: Work schedule is 40 hours a week, treatment hours is a minimum of 30 hours).
When directed by physical therapist will, monitor / train/ implement use of equipment in classroom
Completes paperwork and other documentation as required by the program, licensing agencies, and funding sources, e.g. progress notes, attendance records, flow sheets, etc.
Utilizes appropriate methods to manage inappropriate behavior/responses.
Communicates professionally with team members regarding progress, concerns, and plans of individuals served.
Communicates professionally with guardian/parent regarding programmatic changes or other important information and documents conversation on designated form.
Participates as necessary in interdisciplinary team meetings as assigned by supervising physical therapist.
Participates as necessary and appropriate in co-treatments across disciplines.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge base and treatment methodology.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.

While performing the duties of this job, employee will comply with all federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to Easterseals Arkansas.
Employee has access to all client protected health information of the individuals directly served by this person, except psychotherapy notes. Employee will not attempt to access any other protected health information unless otherwise approved by Supervisor or Privacy Officer.

Education and/or Experience:
Completion of Physical Therapy Assistant Program from an accredited college or university.
Core Competencies:
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Knowledge of best practices and interdisciplinary programming to ensure that treatment plans and service delivery is individualized.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with individuals at diverse levels.
Demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.
Ability to independently prioritize and plan work activities.
Ability to problem-solve independently or in a group setting.
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Onedrive, Teams, Word, Excel).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Certification by state board as a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
