"A Life Dedicated to Service, Simplicity, and Smiles"
At Easterseals Arkansas, our mission is carried forward every day by individuals whose passion for service shines through in everything they do. Today, we are proud to spotlight Cesar Juarez, a bilingual leader, teacher, and supporter of all who walk through the Center for Training & Wellness (CTW) doors. His journey across countries and cultures makes him an inspiring member of our Easterseals family — and someone you’ll definitely want to know.
From the Peace Corps to Easterseals: A Lifetime of Giving Back
Cesar Juarez’s commitment to helping others was evident from the very start of his professional journey. After graduating from the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB) with a bachelor’s degree in Latin American & Iberian Studies and Spanish, Cesar sought out a path of purpose rather than convention.
"I wanted to see the world and help people," Cesar says. His passion led him to join the Peace Corps, where he served as a volunteer in El Salvador for an incredible three and a half years.
When his Peace Corps service ended, Cesar returned to California and began working as a Job Coach for adults with disabilities. It was work that felt meaningful and fulfilling — a perfect match for his skills and compassionate heart.
In 2008, Cesar made a big move to Arkansas. True to his calling, he found Easterseals Arkansas, and Easterseals found a dedicated team member who would make a lasting impact.
"I felt very fortunate when Easterseals hired me," he says. And we feel just as fortunate to have him.
A Steady, Supportive Presence at the Center for Training & Wellness
Cesar has now spent nearly 21 years working with adults with disabilities, combining his experience from California and Arkansas. His current role at the Center for Training & Wellness is multi-faceted — and that’s exactly where he thrives.
As a Certified Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Instructor, Cesar brings a calm, solution-oriented approach to any situation. Whether it's helping a client find a lost item, providing support during a tough moment, or communicating with Spanish-speaking families across departments, Cesar is the go-to person.
"I am very fortunate to work with a dedicated team of professionals — case managers, teaching assistants, instructors, and therapists. We work together to solve the daily challenges that arise," he shares.
Colleagues and clients alike describe Cesar as flexible, a good listener, and always willing to lend a hand. His calm demeanor and ability to wear many hats make him a rock for those around him.
Finding Inspiration in Simplicity
When you ask Cesar what keeps him motivated, he doesn’t talk about awards or accolades. Instead, he speaks of life's simple, enduring gifts.
"The sunrise and sunset inspire me. No matter how cloudy the day is, the sun is still there, completing its trajectory — just like we complete and overcome our challenges," Cesar reflects thoughtfully.
Outside of work, Cesar finds peace in nature — especially while fishing. A perfect day off for him includes relaxing by the lake, feeling the breeze, listening to birds chirp, and, of course, enjoying a good snack under the sun.
"Even if I don't catch a fish," he laughs, "I catch the sounds and serenity of nature."
Home Across Cultures — And a Future Full of Possibility
Cesar’s personal story is just as rich and colorful as his professional one. Born in Mexico, he moved to California when he was 13. Now, he calls Arkansas home — but travel remains a vital part of his life.
"I love to travel. I can always catch a flight back to visit the two places where I grew up," he says.
His time with the Peace Corps remains one of the most transformative experiences of his life, and who knows — one day, Cesar might volunteer again. (Fun fact: there’s no upper age limit to serve!)
Fun Facts, Favorites, and a Legacy of Joy
When asked what would be impossible for him to give up, Cesar doesn’t hesitate: "Chocolate!" he laughs. "Who doesn’t enjoy a sweet life?"
And for a little fun — Cesar has a unique, whimsical talent: he can whistle four different ways using his mouth and hands! (We’re ready for the concert whenever you are, Cesar!)
When it comes to how he wants to be remembered, Cesar keeps it simple and heartfelt:
"As a happy person who understood that the most valuable things in life are free — faith, love, and friendship."
Thank You, Cesar — And Find Your Place With Us!
Cesar Juarez exemplifies the spirit of Easterseals Arkansas. His kindness, patience, and steady leadership enrich the lives of everyone he meets. We are so proud to have Cesar as part of our team and look forward to many more years of sunsets, smiles, and small victories together.
