At Easterseals Arkansas, our mission is brought to life every day through the dedication of our incredible team members. This week, we’re honored to introduce Jaclyn Dougan, Director of Waiver. She is one of the many people who consistently go above and beyond to help individuals with disabilities and their families access the supports they need to live, learn, work, and thrive in their communities.
A Career Built On Person-Centered Support
Jaclyn brings more than 15 years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs across Arkansas. She pairs that hands-on expertise with a strong academic foundation, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Arkansas Tech University and a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from UALR.
Her path to Easterseals Arkansas began when she learned about the organization through colleagues at a previous employer.
“While talking with people who worked for Easterseals Arkansas, they had great things to say about them and I loved to hear all the positive feedback.”
That combination of purpose, opportunity, and a supportive team culture drew Jaclyn in; she’s been making a meaningful impact ever since.
A Steady Leader Teammates Can Count On
Ask Jaclyn what she’s known for, and you’ll hear the strengths her coworkers experience every day: strong leadership, team support, effective communication, and a results-focused approach grounded in care.
She hopes to be known as someone who shows up with clarity, calm, and a deep commitment to the people Easterseals serves.
“I would hope my coworkers would say, ‘Jaclyn is a reliable team player who always steps in to help others, fosters collaboration, and brings a positive, solution-oriented attitude to every challenge.’ ”
Whether she’s helping shape individualized supports, collaborating across teams, or mentoring newer staff, Jaclyn leads with integrity and a community-first mindset.
Outside of Being the Director of Waiver
When she’s not at work, Jaclyn’s world revolves around two things she says are impossible to give up: her son and her dogs (and, of course, her family).
A proud dog lover, Jaclyn has rescue pups, mostly Miniature Schnauzers, plus a spirited Shih Tzu mix.
“I groom them on my own which gives me a calming moment because I'm able to focus on something other than work.”
You’ll most likely find her and her son out looking for something fun to do where their dogs can tag along.
Roots & Inspiration: From Music to Sociology
Jaclyn was born in Maple Heights, Ohio, and spent much of her childhood there before moving to Russellville, Arkansas, where she’s lived most of her life.
Her family has shaped not only who she is, but also the work she chose. Jaclyn shares that her late father remains her greatest inspiration:
“He was someone I talked to him daily and could always joke around with him. He will always be my hero in my eyes.”
She also credits her sister and aunt as early influences who guided her toward working alongside individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
And a fun fact that surprises many people: Jaclyn began college as a music major before changing paths after three years to pursue sociology and, ultimately, rehabilitation counseling.
A Legacy of Integrity and Kindness
When asked how she hopes to be remembered, Jaclyn’s answer reflects the heart she brings to her work and her life:
“I want to be remembered as someone who led with integrity, inspired others to grow, and made a lasting impact through kindness and meaningful contributions.”
Jaclyn Dougan embodies what it means to lead with both professionalism and compassion. Easterseals Arkansas is stronger because of her.
Thank you, Jaclyn!
