Kalindria "Kay" Arnold grew up in Lambert, Mississippi, a small town where she lived until her family relocated to Memphis during her tenth-grade year. In 2017, a career promotion brought her to Arkansas. She stayed, built a life here, and made it home. That pattern of following opportunity while staying grounded in what matters most shows up in everything Kay does, professionally and personally.
As Director of Human Resources at Easterseals Arkansas, she's the person behind the people behind the mission.
A Decade of HR Work That Means Something
Kay brings more than ten years of human resources experience across healthcare, telecommunications, staffing, and nonprofit organizations. Her credentials reflect that range: an MBA in Healthcare Management from Walden University, a bachelor's degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Memphis, a Professional in Human Resources certification, and a SHRM Certified Professional certification. She's the kind of person who keeps adding to that list because she genuinely enjoys learning, not because she has to.
Her HR career has covered employee relations, talent management, compliance, leadership coaching, and organizational development. But ask her what the work is really about and she'll say it plainly: creating a workplace where employees feel valued, supported, and equipped to succeed.
At Easterseals Arkansas, that's not an abstract goal. The employees Kay supports are therapists helping children reach developmental milestones, direct support professionals helping adults build independence, and educators creating inclusive classrooms for kids with disabilities. When HR works well, those people can focus entirely on that work. When it doesn't, everyone downstream feels it.
"I believe my greatest contribution is helping create a workplace where employees feel valued, supported, and equipped to succeed," she says. Her coworkers would add approachable, dependable, and fair to that list. Someone who tackles difficult situations without losing sight of the person at the center of them.
Kay the Builder
Here's what her friends know that her LinkedIn profile doesn't mention. Kay is a self-proclaimed DIY enthusiast who is almost certainly in the middle of a project right now. Home improvement, Cricut crafts, painting, organizing, redesigning. Her friends have taken to calling her "Kay the Builder," a nod to Bob the Builder that she's leaned into fully. "If it can be painted, organized, customized, repaired, or redesigned, chances are I've already tried it," she says.
On any given weekend you can find her at Hobby Lobby, Home Depot, or Michael's, or curled up with her Kindle, or spending time with her kids, Kharington and Tatum. She jokes that when she's not reading emails she's reading books. Her ideal day off includes all three: family time, a good read, and at least one item checked off the project list.
She's also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., through which she volunteers regularly on community service initiatives supporting food banks, outreach projects, and efforts focused on education, wellness, and empowerment.
The Einstein Standard
Kay has a favorite quote from Albert Einstein: "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value." It's guided her personal life and her professional career, and it shows up in how she talks about legacy. She doesn't want to be remembered for credentials or titles. She wants to be remembered as someone who led with kindness, fairness, and integrity, and who helped the people around her feel seen and supported.
That's a high standard. It's also exactly the kind of person Easterseals Arkansas is built around.
