A Passion for Pediatric Progress
At Easterseals Arkansas, we believe that behind every life changed is a dedicated team member making it happen. Each month, we’re proud to introduce you to the people who power our mission, care for our community, and bring compassion to their profession. This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Taylor Harmon, an occupational therapist who serves with skill, heart, and a drive to help every child she works with thrive.
From Capstone to Calling: Meet Taylor Harmon
Taylor Harmon didn’t just find a job at Easterseals Arkansas—she found a calling. While pursuing her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA), Taylor had the opportunity to complete her capstone project with the Easterseals Outreach program. That experience opened her eyes to the wide range of programs under the Easterseals umbrella and the opportunity to work with diverse populations.
“While completing my capstone, I was able to learn more about Easterseals and the various programs under its umbrella. The diversity of programs really interested me, since I enjoy having some variety in the clients I serve.”
Taylor graduated in Fall 2021 and immediately stepped into her role as an occupational therapist at Easterseals Arkansas. Since then, she’s continued to grow personally and professionally, citing the collaborative environment as a major source of learning and motivation.
“One of my favorite parts about Easterseals is the opportunities for collaboration with other therapy disciplines and departments. The therapy staff is super knowledgeable, and I feel like I am constantly learning new techniques and strategies—which is ultimately helping me become a better therapist!”
With a Bachelor’s in Biology and a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from UCA, Taylor combines academic rigor with a heart for service, and she brings both to her work each day.
Helping Little Ones Thrive: Taylor’s Role in Pediatric Outpatient Therapy
Taylor is a dedicated therapist within our Pediatric Outpatient Therapy program, where she provides occupational therapy to children of all ages and developmental stages. Her passion, however, truly shines in her work with infants through the High Risk Infant Monitoring team.
Once a week, Taylor evaluates infants who may have experienced a challenging birth or are living with a diagnosis that places them at risk for developmental delays. Her goal? To ensure early intervention services are available and effective—setting the stage for a strong start in life.
“This program helps ensure that therapy intervention can occur early if needed to better support the infant's transition into childhood and the acquisition of vital foundational skills needed for both play and learning opportunities.”
Taylor’s sessions are more than just therapy—they’re interactive, engaging, and customized to each child’s personality and needs.
“I always strive to give the individuals I serve good quality therapy. Some days that’s easier than others, but I still try to ensure that I am promoting foundational skills. If I can, I want to make therapy not only functional, but also fun! I challenge myself to make my client laugh or smile at least once per session.”
Whether she’s delivering evidence-based therapy, celebrating a milestone with a parent, or getting a high-five from a previously withdrawn child, Taylor brings her full self to the role—and it shows.
More Than a Job: What Drives Taylor
Taylor’s commitment to helping others doesn’t stop when the therapy session ends. Inspired by the people around her—her family, friends, coworkers, and clients—she embraces a lifelong love of learning and giving back.
“I enjoy learning new things! I actually loved school for that very reason. I’m really inspired by the people around me.”
She’s also been involved with the Home for Healing through the 4300 Club, attending events that bring joy and community to families staying there during medical treatment. From tie-dye nights to cooking demos, Taylor has seen firsthand how much simple moments can mean.
“I even learned how to play spades from a resident of the facility. This truly is a great organization!”
Outside of work and volunteering, you might find her watching crime shows, reading, crocheting, or joining her friends at trivia night. Taylor is also a long-time employee of Bath & Body Works, where she still works occasionally—mainly for the candles and camaraderie!
