UA Little Rock and Easterseals Arkansas Join Forces to Create ACCE Program

WHO:  UA Little Rock and Easterseals Arkansas

WHAT:  Easterseals Arkansas and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock have developed an exciting new program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in central Arkansas.

The Academics, Community, Career Development and Employment Program (ACCE) will be an opportunity for students to have a college experience and prepare for competitive employment. Academics, social support, work exploration, and job placement will be important components of the program. ACCE is a two-semester program on the UA Little Rock campus that starts Jan. 30, 2017, and ends Aug. 4, 2017.

WHEN:  UA Little Rock is hosting a reception for ACCE students and their families on the first day of classes from noon – to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 30, 2017.

WHERE:  Fifth floor of Dickson Hall on the UA Little Rock campus

WHY:  According to the Department of Labor, only 32 percent of working age people with disabilities were employed from 2010 to 2012.Studies have shown that individuals with ID/DD who participate in post-secondary education have better jobs and receive higher earnings.

ABOUT:  The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is a metropolitan research university in the heart of Arkansas that provides quality education through flexible learning and unparalleled internship opportunities.
