Johnathan Watson’s remarkable journey with Easterseals Arkansas is proof of the organization’s commitment to lifelong support.
In 2003, a young Johnathan Watson took his first steps into the world of Easterseals at the Little Rock Developmental Preschool. Little did anyone know that this was the beginning of a transformative journey.
A Path of Transition
As Johnathan neared the summer before his senior year, he embarked on a significant transition phase with Easterseals’ high school program called SET for Success. During this time, he gained valuable work experience at Easterseals’ Children’s Rehabilitation Center. For Johnathan, this period was about more than just personal growth; it was about “giving back to Easterseals.”
In 2018, Johnathan graduated from Bryant High School, marking a significant milestone in his journey. The path ahead was filled with opportunities, and he was ready to seize them.
Soon after graduation, Johnathan continued his association with Easterseals through the SET for Success program, this time at Baptist Health. His work experience in Baptist Sodexso food service proved to be a stepping stone towards a bright future. At the end of the program, he accepted a full-time job offer from Baptist as a patient transporter.
Pursuing Higher Education
Johnathan’s thirst for knowledge led him to Easterseals’ college program, ACCE, held at UA Little Rock. He diligently attends classes in the mornings, forging his path toward graduation in May alongside his fellow students.
Independence Achieved: A New Home at Harold Court
One of the most significant milestones in Johnathan’s journey was his move towards independence. He recently moved into his very own apartment at Harold Court, signifying a new chapter in his life. While he’ll miss his beloved dogs, he’s excited about the simple pleasures of playing video games and watching cooking shows.
A testament to his determination and growth, Johnathan’s mother proudly shares that within just a couple of weeks of living on his own, he has already mastered the art of cooking spaghetti.
